Registration dates set!

Hi All registration is online shortly. We are encouraging all to use the online registration process.  Carly has sent out an email to all that have registered in the past. The email is copied below.

Walk-in dates are February 17, and March 3rd at the Aron Theatre, 6-8PM

The cut-off for all registrations is March 31 with the Executive reserving the right to allow late additions to fill spots to make up teams.

Mark Carlen - President.

Here is Carly McKelvie's (Our Registrar) email about registration process this year.

Dear THSC Families,

We hope this email finds you well and that you’ve had an enjoyable fall and winter so far. It’s almost hard to believe, but it’s already time for our 2016 registration for summer soccer. Our small, but hard-working executive has been busy the last few weeks meeting to plan the upcoming season and we hope to have you join us again this year. :)

If you are receiving this email, it is because you played for us during the 2015 season and we don’t want you to miss out on upcoming registration dates. Please share it with anyone who may be interested in having their child play soccer this year. If you have moved or won’t be playing with us this year, once I have our 2016 registrations done, I will update my email “list” and you won’t be bothered with emails from me anymore. :)

This year, we are continuing to use the online registration system “Power Up”, in order to reduce the amount of paperwork and to streamline the process for everyone. If you were a player with us last year, regardless of how you registered (in person or online), you have a family profile in this system. We are hoping that you will choose to register online this year, but of course we will have a couple of walk-in dates, just in case. See below for dates.

I will apologize in advance for the length of this email, but I want to give everybody as much information as possible upfront to help answer any questions that may arise.

So here it goes…..

Our Program
Our club has a variety of teams for players ranging from 3-17 years old with years of birth from 1998-2013. We have a Timbit program for ages 3-5 and then House League teams at the U7 and U9 level. Our travel teams are for U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18. We are a recreational program with a focus of team-building, skill development, fun and exercise.

Teams
Our Timbit teams play out of Campbellford and Warkworth fields on Tuesday nights and rotate playing in both locations. Although we do our best to accommodate everyone’s requests, due to team size capacities, we sometimes require families who choose Warkworth as their home field to play out of Campbellford. Smaller team sizes allow for more playing opportunities and fun for our players. If you are willing to be flexible in this regard, please choose accordingly at the time of registration.

House League teams play out of the Campbellford fields only. These players rotate playing other local teams and generally play on Wednesday (U7) or Thursday (U9) nights.

Our Travel Teams play teams from other local communities. All teams that we play are in our “Tri-County” area and for the most part are within a 25 min drive; Hastings, Havelock, Castleton and Douro. It works out that most teams have 6 home games and 6 away games, so really you only have to “travel” 6 or so times a season. All travel teams have an additional practice night which is arranged at the discretion of the coach. Game nights vary depending on the team and home fields are either Campbellford or Warkworth, again depending on the team.

U8 ~ Thursday (Campbellford)
U10 ~ Wednesday (Campbellford)
U12 ~ Tuesday (Warkworth)
U14 ~ Monday (Warkworth)
U16 ~ Thursday (Warkworth)
U18 ~ Wednesday (Warkworth)

Registration
The online link for registering your child with the Trent Hill Soccer Club is:

You can also find this link on our club blog at www.thsc.club or on our Facebook page “Trent Hills Soccer Club”.

You will need to log-in using your email address and password and follow the steps to register for this season. If you registered in person last year, simply enter the email address that you gave us and request a password reset. The system will automatically email you a new password so you can log-in to register. Each child in your family who played last year, is linked to you and can be found under the “Your Players” section. If you need any assistance, please contact me at carlymckelvie@gmail.com and I will be more than happy to help.

If when you are registering it gets to a point that team sizes are full, and you are placed on a waiting list, it does not mean that your child will not play. I have set the program to limit the registration numbers for each team, in order to monitor them accordingly. I will be regularly checking the system and adding new spots if necessary. If your child is placed on the waiting list, you do not pay until a spot for them is secured. :)

Payment
The cost for playing this year is $50 for Timbits and $80 for House League and Travel teams. You can choose to pay the following ways:

  1. By credit card at time of online registration through our secure Paypal account
  2. By choosing “Office Payment” and then either mailing us a cheque or meeting us in person at one of our two registration dates at the Aron Cinema in Campbellford.

Our mailbox is:
Trent Hills Soccer Club
P.O. Box 1941
Campbellford, ON
K0L 1L0

Our walk-in registration dates at the Aron Cinema in Campbellford are:
Wednesday, February 17, 2016
Thursday, March 3, 2016

Most importantly, full payment MUST be received by March 31st in order for your child to play. Team sizes are limited and to be fair, if payment is not received your child will be removed from the team list to make room for any players on the waiting list. If you require financial assistance, please consider applying to the JumpStart program through Canadian Tire. There is an application process, so please apply early to avoid any delays.

More information on Jumpstart can be found here:

Volunteers & Coaches
Last year, we were so incredibly fortunate to have over 300 players in our league and 25 teams. This is awesome for our small community, but each of these teams require an adult to step up and lead them. Each year, we inevitably send out an email asking, (begging) for coaches, so if you are willing to help out please let me know at the time of registration or via email. You don’t have to have a vast knowledge of soccer or amazing skills. You simply need a positive attitude and be willing to give some time each week to guide your players through some basic drills and skill development. Those that have tried it out, have assured us that although it may seem daunting at first, it can actually be the most fun and rewarding night of your week.
You will need a valid police check (within the last 2 years) and if you have any questions about this, please ask.

We also need friendly faces to join our executive. We are down to only 4 members, each who have their own personal and professional commitments. We generally have 2 or 3 meetings in the winter and do the majority of our communication via email. We understand that everyone is busy, but even small contributions help make things easier. Gathering sponsorships, helping out at our BBQ and other festivities. These are just a few examples of areas of need. If you are even more willing, considering stepping into one of more involved roles. Our goal is to provide our players and families a fun and supportive environment where they can meet new friends, get some exercise and develop teamwork and soccer skills.....but we simply cannot do it on our own!

Special Requests
At the time of registration there is an area where you can request for your child to play with a certain friend, a schoolmate, a sibling or someone who you share travel arrangements with. As you can imagine, it is a lot of work to juggle requests, balance team numbers and build the teams as fair as possible based on age, gender etc, without knowing a lot of the players. We want your child’s soccer experience to be a positive one and will do our best to fulfill all reasonable requests. However, we are a recreational club and our intent is never to stack a team with more skilled players than any other team. On every team, all players will get equal playing time regardless of skill and because of this, we reserve the right to create the teams the best way we see fit.

*Please note: all requests MUST be made at the time of registration or no later than March 31st in writing to the THSC registrar (carlymckelvie@gmail.com). Once teams lists are finalized and players are registered with the OSA, it becomes very tedious and time consuming to move individuals around. Thank you for understanding. :)

I hope all of this will help to answer any questions you may have and allow you to register your child easily and efficiently. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions. I do work full time outside of my role as the THSC registrar, so please be patient as I get back to you.

Looking forward to seeing your child as part of our club this summer.

Carly McKelvie

THSC Registrar
